New strategies and tools for their implementation are needed.
New models go much beyond the scope of venerable traditions like organising health and welfare in independent silos and seamlessly integrate the healthcare and social service domains.
Both eHealth and Telemedicine provide personal health services and can contribute significantly to the successful
implementation of up-to-date health strategies. However, in order to move from high level EU policy initiatives into operational sustainable services, still more evidence is needed. This EHTEL symposium calls together European-wide leaders, drivers and frontrunners, including health policy, competence centres and many stakeholder representatives. This EHTEL event is kindly hosted by the EESC, the voice of organised civil society in the Union's decision-making process.

It was organised following the Public Consultation of the European Commission on an eHealth Action Plan (eHAP) 2012-2020. This initiative highlights what is needed both at European and Member State level to take eHealth services a significant step forward, i.e. beyond the mere deployment of infrastructures and it supports a long term vision for eHealth in Europe. EHTEL and Intel jointly belief that eHealth is just one part of a significant transformation of health care provision towards shared care models where citizens and patients actively maintain their health. Thus trust and acceptance of eHealth by its users has been the tagline of this workshop. The workshop was hosted by Milan Cabrnoch, MEP.</description> <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher> <dc:creator>shschug</dc:creator> <dc:rights></dc:rights> <dc:subject>EHTEL-Intel Workshop at the European Parliament</dc:subject> <dc:subject>eHealth 2020 – What Synergies for Europe?</dc:subject> <dc:date>2011-11-22T10:51:00Z</dc:date> <dc:type>Event</dc:type> </item>
