DESCRIPTION:The Aim of the Congress is to provide the most complete pa
 norama for a discussion  looking to obtain what in real world is neede
 d to enable efficient strategies and tools for better diabetes diagnos
 is\, treatment and prevention at all levels. \nThe 6th WCPD provides a
  great opportunity to enable a more effective communication between al
 l people interested in diabetes prevention and its management. It prov
 ides opportunities to learn from the experiences of others especially 
 discussing barriers encountered during prevention programme implementa
 tion. It is aiming at having the translation of what has been learned 
 in Science into practical skills of prevention. It should encourage th
 e adoption of best practices in diabetes prevention involving a good p
 artnership between all relevant players. Effective primary prevention 
 is essential to reduce the epidemic of type 2 diabetes throughout the 
 world. To achieve this\, action is needed not only in the field of pol
 icy making but also in the development of targeted intervention progra
 mmes which address the needs of people with an increased risk of diabe
 tes\, clinical- and community-based healthcare professionals and the g
 eneral population.
